S.H.A.L.O.M. Workshop for Engaged Couples
The S.H.A.L.O.M. Workshop (Starting Healthy and Long Lasting Marriages) is an initiative aimed at engaged couples preparing for marriage. Rabbinic and community leaders are spearheading our effort to introduce this valuable educational program which includes lectures by specially trained STF staff members combined with role playing by participants.

The goal of the S.H.A.L.O.M. Workshop is to teach engaged couples practical tools to achieve a healthy marriage. The ability to easily and effectively meet each other’s emotional needs helps build a strong foundation for a true Bayis Ne’eman B’Yisrael.
In just one or two sessions the Chassan and Kallah will cover important issues such as increased understanding and sensitivity to each other’s feelings, effectively communicating through a sense of mutual respect, promoting self confidence in each other, and financial management
This workshop is an important addition to traditional Chassan/Kallah classes. Participants emerge with a deeper self-knowledge and the tools to build a happy successful and long-lasting marriage.

Endorsement from Rabbi Dr. Avraham Twerski, M.D.
"I am absolutely thrilled to hear about the S.H.A.L.O.M. workshop for engaged couples. Traditionally, the Jewish family was a fortress of stability. In recent years, the number of failed marriages among Jews has risen to an alarming incidence. In many of these cases, young people were grossly unprepared for marriage, and were frustrated when their unrealistic fantasies failed to materialize.
The only answer to thwart this tragic problem is to provide young people with a better understanding of the responsibilities of marriage, and how one should relate to another human being intimately.
The S.H.A.L.O.M. workshop is a vital project and a great mitzvah. May Hashem bless your efforts with much success.
Rabbi Abraham J. Twerski, M.D.
